New cars cheaper than used cars |
In the latest retail figures for the Motor Trade industry, many new cars have been discounted so heavily that you can pick them up for less than the price of a used car. In the first 3 months of 2009 new cars have fallen by over 200,000 units. |
Car Dealers have become desparate to shift cars and are knocking thousands of pounds off the price of new vehicles. Whilst at the same time there has been a lack of used cars on the market, this has if anything increased the price of a used vehicle. Therefore if you are looking to buy a Peugeot 308 SE a new example from a dealer can be found for £14,620, whereas a used example with under 5,000 miles will cost you £17,000. |
It’s not just smaller cars that you can save money on, it has been reported that in the past month a Subaru Impreza WRX can be purchased new for £1,500 less than a model with 7,500 miles on the clock. Similarly a Mazda 6 1.8 S could save you £1,000 when you buy a new model, when compared to a used example with just 2,500 miles recorded. |
Parkers price guide was established in 1972 and this is the first time in their history that the price of new cars has been recorded as lower than used cars on some many models. The time to purchase is now, as soon the new car surplus stock will clear and then prices are expected to return to the previous status quo. |
