Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I qualify for a Motor Trade insurance policy?
A: If you currently working as a Motor Trader, you will need a Motor Trade policy. You must be able to prove that you have been trading (usually with invoices and financial records) should you need to make a claim on your Motor Trade policy.
Q: Can I use Car Insurance 'No Claims Bonus' on my Motor Trade policy?
A: When taking out Trader insurance for the first time, you can use your No Claims Bonus gained on a car insurance policy and 'mirror' this on your Motor Trade insurance. This will take account of your existing driving history and can help reduce your premium.
Q: Will my spouse be covered on my Traders Policy?
A: Most insures will provide spouse cover on your Motor Trade insurance. But to get the most competitive premium, it is usually preferable to remove business cover for your spouse - unless this is absolutely necessary.
Q: Can I purchase a Motor Trade insurance policy, without any business premises?
A: Yes - we can cover Traders working from home, Mobile Mechanics and a wide range of Motor Trade occupations. If you haven't got business premises, you will need a 'Road Risk Insurance' policy. This covers vehicles you drive within your business activities.
Q: What is a Combined Motor Trade policy?
A: Combined Motor Trade insurance, is cover for vehicles in your charge and business premises. You will be able to use any 'No Claims Bonus' earned on the vehicle section of your policy.
Q: Can I still protect my No Claims Bonus on my Traders Policy?
A: Yes - most insurers will provide the option to protect your No Claims Bonus on a Motor Traders policy. Although there will be an additional charge to add this option to your cover, this will save you money should you need to make a claim.
